After entering search terms, you can limit results by clicking on a category filter. Further clicked category filters add to the results rather than limiting results further.
For example, searching for "enclosed sandal" will prioritise search results from products that use both terms in their descriptions. So footwear in the initial results will mostly be sandals that have either an enclosed toe or enclosed heel. Clicking on the "Women" category filter will then remove men's results (eg the Naot Martin sandal).
Extra Search Filters Add to Results
However, if you then add another category such as "Orthotic: Full", results from that whole category will be added back in if they relate to the search terms. So in this example, adding the “Orthotic: Full” category filter will cause the full-length-orthotic-friendly Naot Martin to reappear, even though it is not a women's sandal.
In other words, filtering by "Women" and "Orthotic: Full" displays all women's footwear containing "enclosed" or "sandal" and all full-length-orthotic-friendly footwear containing "enclosed" or "sandal". It does not display only women's full-length orthotic-friendly sandals containing "enclosed" or "sandal".
